Olenka and the Autumn Lovers are not your average folk band. Their music incorporates instruments ranging from the lap steel guitar to the glockenspiel and accordion. Then there is the string section consisting of violin, cello, and upright bass. Add to that a dash of electric guitar, drums, mandolin, and Olenka’s classical guitar and harmonica, and you have the sound that makes up the ensemble’s unique brand of folk. When writing songs, Olenka draws on a world of experiences including her early years in Poland and her memories of Eastern European folklore and music.
